Early New Year's resolution...

...To stop reading The Charioteer posts on Tumblr.  The over-analysis is killing the emotional impact of the book and certain mistaken notions are taking root as 'fact' such as Ralph being addicted to Benzedrine. And Ralph is not perfect. The novel is about Laurie growing up and learning to compromise in love, but he only goes back to Ralph because he feels guilty, and to stop Ralph from killing himself.  Even though he loves him, is that a secure basis for a long-term relationship?  But if I post this anywhere it is likely to be seen, a ton of bricks will descend upon me.
